Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier asked a Highlands County judge for an emergency order against OpenAI on September 28. Among the demands: no ChatGPT for minors in Florida, no marketing it as safe, no human-style first-person talk, and an end to what the motion calls conversation prolongation, the follow-up questions at the end of answers. OpenAI hasn't filed a response in court, and a spokesperson said it wants rules that apply to the entire AI industry. Nothing has been decided.

Moms and dads: pay attention to the conversations your kids are having with AI. Families have sued chatbot makers alleging long conversations with AI played a part in young people's suicides, and in August Meta agreed to pay up to $18 billion to settle states' claims over addictive design on Instagram and Facebook, without admitting wrongdoing.
