In a 2025 study ("Vision Language Models are Biased", Vo, Nguyen et al.), five top AI models - OpenAI's GPT-4.1, o3 and o4-mini among them - counted the rings on car logos with one added. They got it right 0.44% of the time: under 1 in 100. They answer from memory, not from the picture.
