What is Rectified Flow?
Rectified flow trains a generative model to move from noise to data along paths that are as straight as possible, so samples can be produced in a few big steps — sometimes one — instead of the many tiny steps curved diffusion needs; it learns a velocity field and uses a straightening procedure called reflow, and now backs several state-of-the-art fast image models.

Early diffusion models made stunning images, but they were slow, often fifty or a hundred passes through the network to turn noise into a picture. Rectified flow is a big reason the newest image generators can do it in just a handful of steps, sometimes even one. The idea is almost suspiciously simple, if you want to get from noise to data fast, teach the model to travel in a straight line.
