Video 4: Titles, Covers, and the Cover Reveal
One of the biggest worries I hear from new curators is, "I don't have a title yet." Take a deep breath. You don't need one on day one.
Here's a trick that has worked wonderfully. Once your chapters come in, put them all into an AI tool like Claude and ask, "Based on these stories, what should this book be called?" You'll get a list of ideas that come straight from your authors' own words. That's exactly how one of our curators landed on a title she loved, after her first working title just didn't feel right.
If you've written your own book, think about making your anthology a companion to it. Use a similar look, a similar feel, a nod to your original title. That way the two books sell together and strengthen each other.
What if you don't reveal the title or cover until later? That's okay. Just give your authors the theme up front so they know what they're writing toward. When your authors are your own clients, they'll trust you. When they're newer to you, share a little more early so they feel included.
Now, the cover reveal. Your authors will be chomping at the bit to see it, so plan a cover reveal for your group. Wait until you've seen the printed proof and you're happy with it, then reveal it. It's a wonderful moment of celebration, and it gets everyone excited to start sharing.
