The Webb Radio-Controlled Lawnmower (1959) was one of the world's earliest remotely operated consumer lawn mowers and a remarkable vision of home automation decades before robotic mowers became common. Developed by H.C. Webb & Co. in the United Kingdom, it made its public debut at the Chelsea Flower Show in London in May 1959, where it even attracted the attention of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

Powered by two 12-volt car batteries (24 V total), the mower used an electric motor rated at approximately 0.25 hp (190 W) and could operate for about 2.5 hours. It reached a top speed of just over 3 km/h (2 mph), featured independent four-wheel suspension, and cut grass with a 36 cm (14 in) blade. Its radio transmitter had a range of up to 0.4 km (0.25 mi), allowing the operator to steer the machine from a comfortable distance.

Although never mass-produced, the Webb mower became an icon of futuristic engineering. It was later demonstrated at the Miracle Garden Exhibition in Paris in 1960 and was widely described as the "lazy gardener's dream." While the concept was far ahead of its time, practical robotic lawn mowers would not become commercially successful until several decades later, making the 1959 Webb a true pioneer in domestic robotics.
