Assembling and booting a modular industrial computer running legacy Windows CE 5.0!
Today on TechDayEveryDay, we are putting together a heavy-duty embedded industrial PC setup from scratch. From socketing the PLCC BIOS IC to booting from a CompactFlash card, this is pure industrial automation nostalgia.
The Industrial PC Assembly & Boot Sequence:
1. BIOS Installation: Socketing the PLCC BIOS chip into its dedicated socket.
2. Storage Setup: Inserting the CompactFlash card loaded with Windows CE 5.0 into the onboard CF slot.
3. Module Stacking: Interconnecting and screwing together the modular stack expansion units.
4. I/O & Peripherals: Hooking up a VGA display, along with a wireless USB keyboard and mouse setup.
5. Power-On & Boot: Firing up the system—listening for the iconic system POST beep and watching the status LED blink as Windows CE boots!
