OpenAI just launched dots, its personal AI agent, and Grok Bot and Meta's Muse are out too. The thing nobody's talking about: they lock you into their ecosystem.

In AI coding tools you own the context. It lives on your computer and on GitHub, so you can pick the best tool or model at the time. With personal AI agents it's their browser, their computers and their memory, so getting your data back or moving tools gets much harder.
