MiniMax H3 vs LTX 2.3—tested with identical prompts across demanding AI video scenes. Could MiniMax H3 become the best open-source AI video model yet?
In this hands-on test, I examine original MiniMax H3 API generations alongside LTX 2.3 results, covering high-speed action, complex motion, prompt adherence, temporal consistency, facial stability, fine detail, 10- and 15-second clips, native 2K video, and stereo audio. The prompts are intentionally challenging, making the strengths and current limitations much easier to see.
I also break down the technology behind MiniMax H3, including Contextual Omni Representation, H3-VAE, the H3-Omni Transformer, In-Context Regeneration, multimodal reference control, native multi-shot generation, video-to-video motion transfer, and natural-language editing.
MiniMax is building H3 as a general-purpose multimodal model for professional AI video production, advertising, branding, e-commerce, product design, UI/UX, gaming, and advanced creative workflows. This video goes beyond curated launch demonstrations to show what the model can—and still cannot—do in real generations.
Important: every H3 clip shown here was generated through the MiniMax API. MiniMax says it plans to release the model weights in the coming days. Local ComfyUI performance, quantized output quality, hardware requirements, and final licensing will need to be verified once the public weights arrive.
As soon as the weights become available, I’ll test H3 locally and publish an 8GB VRAM-optimized ComfyUI workflow. Subscribe to Tensor Alchemist and turn on notifications so you don’t miss it.
What should I test first when the local H3 model arrives? Let me know in the comments.
