Every support team has been optimizing the same thing for years: speed. How fast can we answer the ticket, reply to the email, close the loop. AI made that part almost free, so now everyone can answer fast, and answering fast has quietly stopped being the thing that matters.
Look at what actually happens before a single reply goes out. You find the email, you check the payment, you dig through Slack, you send another invite, you write another apology, you close another ticket. That is the hidden work, and most of it exists because the customer had to ask in the first place. So the better question is not how do we answer people faster. It is how do we make sure they never had to ask at all. When you point AI at the whole process instead of just the reply, the win is not a faster inbox. It is a smaller one.
I write up how I actually build these, and where I make the agent stop, over on my newsletter: https://natesnewsletter.substack.com?r=1z4sm5&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true
