How AI Image Generators Actually Work

Every AI image generator starts from the exact same thing: pure, meaningless noise. In this video we actually walk through the mechanism — diffusion models, the forward and reverse noising process, why modern tools compress into a latent space, how CLIP lets a text prompt steer the result, and the real technique (classifier-free guidance) behind that "guidance scale" slider you've probably dragged around.

We also don't skip the uncomfortable part. These models were trained on LAION-5B, a dataset of billions of images scraped from the public web — and that's the direct subject of real, ongoing lawsuits (Andersen v. Stability AI, Getty Images v. Stability AI) that this video names specifically rather than gesturing at vaguely. We cover the real, documented failure modes too (hands, garbled text, inconsistent characters) and why they happen mechanistically, plus where this same trick is already showing up in games, architecture, film, and product design — and where it's heading next (OpenAI's Sora applies the identical mechanism to video).
