How can you build a map in R of the most beautiful cherry blossoms in a city? And how can you find R packages based on what they actually DO, not just what they're named? Daniel Chen and Kylie Ainslie showcase their super fun personal data science projects that help solve those problems!

Daniel Chen is a Data Science Lecturer in the Statistics Department at the University of British Columbia. He also teaches Data Science for the UBC Master of Data Science program.

Kylie Ainslie is the Modelling for Policy Lead at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity at the University of Melbourne, and Honorary Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong School of Public Health.

On this call, Daniel walks through how and why he created a map of Vancouver's very best cherry blossom sightseeing locations, and Kylie Ainslie shows us how she created a website that aims to help people find the right R package for the job they need to do - even if they don't know the package name!
