I tested DALL-E, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion with identical prompts for electricians versus CEOs. The results were striking: AI generated realistic CEO imagery instantly, but refused or cartoonized electricians. The reason is training data composition. Construction, electrical, and plumbing trades employ millions of Americans yet are vastly underrepresented in AI training datasets like LAION, which skew heavily toward luxury professional aesthetics. In my testing across 50+ prompts, blue-collar imagery was degraded or refused at far higher rates than executive imagery. Multiple AI platforms also apply stricter review to realistic labor depictions, while corporate imagery gets approved without friction. This isn't accidental—it's baked into policy and training simultaneously. A plumber earning $60,000 annually is nearly absent from AI's visual world, while fictional office executives are the default 'professional.' This creates a feedback loop: AI can't generate trades realistically, users stop asking, fewer examples get created, the model gets worse. What profession does your AI generator treat as invisible? #AI #Bias #TechTruth
